Day 1:
Visit the Jagdish Temple
Since this temple is open from 6 am then this is the ideal thing to do firsts thing in the morning of your 48 hours trip to Udaipur. You can spend anywhere from 20 min – 30 min. or more if you’d like to say your prayers, or take in the peace. After that you can head for breakfast nearby the Jagdish temple.
Head to City Palace
This is a must – do thing for all visitors to Udaipur. This massive palace that dates back to the 15th century is also the birthplace of one of the greatest rulers of Mewar – Maharana Pratab. It has 11 smaller palaces, huge entrance gates, temples, corridors & pavilions, gardens, terraces & balconies, etc. It takes 2 – 3 hours to go around the structures within this architectural marvel a mix of various types of architectural styles. This structure with great historical significance also part of a couple of 5-star hotels. You can choose to eat your lunch at one of the hotels here after a hectic sightseeing morning.

Museum at Bagore ki Haveli
This is an old mansion or regal residence of the ancient royals. It is situated close to the Udaipur City Palace and is best if you visit it next. There are many antique peices most of which are weapons, artifacts and the items used by royals including war costumes, etc. here. Various types of museums are there in different sections of this royal residence. This includes Puppet museum including court set-up, camels & horses and soldiers. The next thing is a turban museum that showcases the various types and styles of turbans from different parts of Rajasthan and adjoining states. Then there is also a portion dedicated for Royal Indian Wedding theme. These scenes are depicted by 3D figurines and they look a lot like real people!
Boat ride on Lake Pichola
These architectural marvels such as the Jag Mandir Palace, Udai Vilas Palace, City Palace of Udaipur, and Bagore ki Haveli surround the beautiful Lake Pichola on all sides. Boat rides across the river at sunset or earlier in the evening is a great experience and gives a splendid view of sunset over Lake Pichola. Make sure to stop by at the ‘floating palace’ that is submerged under water. It offers also an excellent view of the birds from the surrounding bird sanctuary. Speed boat ride across Fateh Sagar
One of the best things about Udaipur is that since it is full of lakes you often travel across waters in boats. Situated in the midst of the picturesque lake is the Nehru Garden full of lush greenery, picnic time, and lake side restaurants offering a great view of the lake. So, you can start your day in a peaceful way and also take an exciting boat ride.
Visit the Shilpagram Fair
This crafts village where the skilled artisans and craftsmen showcase their skills such as folk songs, music, and dance, pottery, textile making, puppet & magic shows, etc. will entertain you. You will learn a lot about the ethnic culture of Rajasthan and you can take time to check out the programs, workshops, shops, and people. It is situated only 3 km from the Fateh Sagar so it is the best place to next. It takes 3 – 4 hours to spend time here and participate in all activities. Have lunch at a restaurant to taste local cuisine.
Water Fountains at Saheliyon Ki Bari
This place is renowned for the water fountains, stone elephants and the artificial lake pond. It is also 3 km from the Fateh Sagar Lake. This was mainly constructed for the purpose of the royal ladies and is such a respite. This water garden is situated with greenery around and is a great place to stroll.
Shopping in Udaipur
This is one of the most interesting things to do in any place that you go for sightseeing. A trip to Udaipur is incomplete without a great shopping experience. You have to make time to go through the shopping streets and marketplaces of Udaipur. There is everything to shop for – fabric, especially at Hathi Pol where there are many types and colors of fabric available here.
